The application has been filed to the County Council
The project would involve building a new wastewater treatment plant and sewerage infrastructure, which would eliminate the discharge of untreated wastewater from these areas into Cork Harbour.
Irish Water say the new scheme would bring both health and economical benefits to the Whitegate/Aghada area with improved water quality, while also being better for the environment.
