An inter-agency final report describing what killed over 40 thousand fish in North Cork has been described as disappointing.

Inland Fisheries Ireland along with the EPA, the County Council and other agencies say the wipe out of fish on the River Blackwater was likely caused by a waterborne irritant entering the river which dissipated quickly.

Speaking to RedFM News, North Cork TD Eoghan Kenny says the report is disapointing:

"Obviously it's very disapointing for locals, and I think there are a couple contradictions in the report itself, pathology reports would have suggestted a chemical was in the water, but it was undetected then in the samples that they took."
