Gardai have thanked a coroner for his patience as they sought another adjournment into the death of a man killed in front of his wife and children in Cork almost seven years ago
Polish national, Mikolaj Wilk died after he was attacked by a group of men who burst into his home at Maglin near Ballincollig on June 10th 2018
Mr Wilk was repeatedly hacked in front of his wife, Elzbieta, who sustained serious slash injuries to face, neck and her hands as she sought to protect her husband but the couple’s two children, who were both under six years of age at the time, were uninjured in the incident.
The inquest into his death first opened in November that year and since then has been mentioned 14 times as Gardai await instructions on a murder file from the DPP
The case has been further adjourned until November 15th for mention to allow investigators obtain the DPP’s directions.
