The HSE is advising patients considering coming to the Emergency Department at Cork University Hospital to examine other care options
This is the third warning about overcrowding at the hospital to be issued since July
Speaking to RedFM News Liam Conway of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says staff are very worried about the high levels of overcrowding ahead of the winter season
"It is a severely challenging environment, staff are deeply concerned with the levels of overcrowding which poses risk to infection control, delayed care, etc. and I suppose our members are feeding back to us now that there is concerns in relation to staffing levels, which ultimately pose risks to patient safety and to staff safety"
