The Irish Farmers Association says its members will protest outside county council meetings nationwide to highlight how unfairly farmers are being treated.

Tractor convoys pulled up outside council offices in Cork and Laois this morning, as part of the IFA's "Enough is Enough" campaign.

Irish farmers say other countries have more flexible farming regulations, despite exporting produce to Ireland.

Chairman of the National Environmental Committee at the IFA, John Murphy, says there should be one standard for all farmers:

"They're leaving imported stuff into the community, that's farmed at different standards all over the world. And they're imposing more and more standards on us. I mean, this thing is nonsense. This thing is... How could anyone ever figure out that this was acceptable like? That you can have one standard for one person and a different standard for someone else, and then expect us to carry the can for it? I mean, in reality, it can't be done".
