A human trafficking awareness campaign is being launched in the city today.
Cork Against Human Trafficking says labour trafficking is often invisible in society and devastates lives.
Garda Superintendent Joanne O’Brien told RedFM News victims are often exploited into working in various sectors in Cork:
"What we are seeing emerging is the vulnerability of victims is a common trend and people are being recruited from low economic backgrounds. It's a transnational crime. People are being recruited in foreign countries and transported to Ireland to work in certain sectors. We're talking car washes, food processing companies, domestic work, construction, hospitality."
