Homelessness in Cork has risen by 21% in the last year.

660 people were accessing emergency accommodation last month compared to 546 last June.

Speaking to RedFM News, Paul Sheehan from Cork Simon says homelessness figures are record breaking each month:

"The latest figures tell us that the number of adults in emergency accommodation in Cork has gone up 21% in the last 12 months. We've seen increases every month since August last year and when we broke through the 600 mark for the first time in January, it's just continued to increase. Every month is a record breaking figure."
