Home and business owners in Blackpool say they cannot wait any longer for a flood relief scheme.
Submissions in support of the 20 point 5 million euro project outnumber those against 10 to 1 and are now being assessed.
Those opposed to the scheme want to protect wildlife in the area.
Jer Buckley who lost his Centra franchise in Blackpool after flooding told RedFM News residents are terrified of further flooding:
"I have no problems with otters and wildlife but I do believe those creatures are mobile, we can't move buildings and houses on our backs and carry them up to dry land, we need the scheme to go ahead. I had a local neighbour here in her 80's who was carried out of her home by the fire brigade during the last flood."
