Stephen Donnelly has urged Catholic bishops not to go against public health advice.
It comes as at least three bishops say they'll resume communion and confirmations in their dioceses.
Currently, the ceremonies aren't permitted under Covid-19 guidelines despite the numbers allowed at weddings increasing from 50 to 100 from Thursday.
As of yet, no Cork bishop has made a public statement on the matter.
