Residents on Harbour View Road in the city say measures must be taken to cut the speed of vehicles driving through the area.
Locals say there are a lot of children in the area and have been campaigning for speed ramps to be installed along the road that stretches from Apple’s European Headquarters to the junction at Baker’s Road.
€25,000 in funding was announced for traffic calming measures last year and two interactive speed signs were installed on the road
However the City Council says an engineer’s report and consultation is needed before any additional traffic calming measures can be considered.
Speaking to RedFM News, local campaigner Don O’Sullivan says many locals are uneasy about the level and speed of traffic on the road.
"Cork City Council, in fairness to them, put in two traffic responders to indicate a speed and if you're over 50 kph it flashes red.
"We have seen with cars travelling at 85 kph up and down the road. And it is concerning, of course for the residents and for children in the area because we have a high volume of children here. We have Terence McSweeney College here and we have St. Mary's on the Hill there also and at lunchtime, it is busy."
