The government is being warned that nursing homes across the country will be forced to close as they face unsustainable financial pressures.
31 nursing homes have closed in the past three years.
Families of residents at Beaumont Residential Care have held protests outside the constituency offices of Ministers Simon Coveney, Michael McGrath and Tánaiste Micheál Martin recently following the the withdrawal of the care home from the Fair Deal Scheme, with the National Treatment Purchase Fund is refusing to cover inflationary increases
Members of Nursing Homes Ireland will present the key findings of an independent report from PwC outlining the challenges facing nursing homes which include rapidly rising operational costs; and a Fair Deal Rate pricing mechanism, which they say is no longer fit for purpose.
CEO of Nursing Homes Ireland Tadhg Daly said immediate action needs to be taken to address the Fair Deal rate before other nursing homes close.
"The PwC is quite stark. What it's saying is there's a crisis in the nursing home sector.
"We've seen 31 nursing homes close in the last number of years with the loss of 915 beds.
"Our concern is if we don't act on the Fair Deal pricing mechanism, there will be further closures in the weeks and months to come."
