The government will consider getting rid of the €3000 student contribution fee for 100,000 students in the budget.
According to the Irish Times, it's included in a paper looking at the cost of going to college, published by the Department of Further and Higher Education.
The paper includes several options which may improve the financial burden for students, including the formation of an emergency accommodation fund, and increasing the SUSI grant by 25%.
