It follows a rise in the number of imported cars being stolen in the city in recent weeks.
Gardaí are advising people to install a steering lock if their car does not have an immobiliser.
Speaking to RedFM News, Crime Prevention Officer at Anglesea Street Garda Station Sergeant Brian McSweeney says investigations into the thefts are ongoing:
"We are monitoring where the cars are taken from and where they're being found, and unfortunately some are being burnt out, so it's a full loss to the owner. What I need to get across is that the vehicles are not coming in from United Kingdom because people aren't buying these cars anymore because they're gone expensive with Brexit and paying the duty on them and everything else. So they're from another country where there are no immobilises fitted to the car, that's the bottom line."
