The former Prime of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Minister Gordon Brown spent a week the week of the August Bank Holiday in West Cork with his family.
The Irish Mirror is reporting today that the ex-UK Labour Party leader was protected by armed Gardaí and UK Police.
Sources told the paper that it was "unprecedented" and "unusual" that a former head of the British government would holiday here because of security concerns.
Brown served as Prime Minister between 2007 and 2010.
