Former Cork Councillor who pleaded guilty to harassment to be sentenced next month

A former Fianna Fáil councillor from Cork who pleaded guilty to the harassment of a woman will be sentenced on June 27th next.

Joseph O’Donovan, formerly known as Gary O’Flynn, of Melvindale House, Coolowen, Blarney appeared before Cork District Court having previously pleaded guilty to one count of harassment.

Joseph O’Donovan, is the son of former TD, Noel O’Flynn and when he was known as Gary O'Flynn was a sitting councillor in Cork city from 2003 to 2008.

The offence occurred on three dates between the 30th of July and August 6th, 2022

Judge Mary Dorgan remanded him on bail until June 27th as a person relevant to the case is out of the country.

A victim impact statement has been prepared and the full facts of the case will be heard on the next occasion.
