Interim flood relief measures need to be examined to ease the fears of locals in Mogeely, Castlemartyr, Killeagh, Whitegate and Ladysbridge

People living in these towns across East Cork suffered extensive flooding during Storm Babet and say they live in fear every time heavy rain is forecast

Mogeely is being including with Castlemartyr in an OPW assessment for work but this will take some time before any protection plan is rolled out

Local Cllr Liam Quaide told RedFM News that he believes flooding will be one of the biggest challenges facing East Cork into the future

"The scale and complexity of this challenge is  far greater than the OPW or the Council. I think we need a separate wider agency that brings together the OPW, the Council, with all the other entities. This is going to be like one of the biggest challenges facing East Cork into the future"
