Five piers in Cork are set to get significant infrastructure upgrades with funding of nearly 659,000 euro being allocated.
The piers at Ballycotton, Bank, Cahermore, Lower Aghada Point and Roches Point will be developed as part of the Fishery Harbour Centres and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme.
The works propose to enhance safety, improve access, and support both commercial and leisure marine activity.
Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development, Charities and transport Jerry Buttimer welcomed the announcement of the funding today:
“This funding will assist Cork County Council in the maintenance and development of fishery and aquaculture linked marine infrastructure in their ownership."
