The recent garda allocation of five garda graduates from Templemore to Cork were cancelled out by retirements and promotions.
The Garda Representative Authority says an extra 125 gardai are needed to police Cork city effectively.
Speaking to RedFM News, Padraig Harrington of the GRA says he has serious concerns for the safety of their members due to the lack of manpower:
"The allocations that are coming to Cork out of Templemore isn't adequate. We are not getting a tenth of what we should be getting. It's time that someone is answerable because if there is a guard injured or killed in Cork city, it's the Commissioner and the Executive Director of the HRPD that will be accountable for it because they are aware of the issue but they are doing nothing about it."
