There are no reports of any injuries following a minor car fire at a multi-storey car park in Douglas in Cork city.
Units of Cork City Fire Service attended the carpark at Douglas Village Shopping Centre this afternoon and evacuated the carpark shortly after 2pm.
The fire happened in almost the exact same spot as a 2019 car fire which almost completed destroyed the multi-storey car park.
Second Officer at Cork City Fire Brigade, Victor Shine says crews contained the fire quickly:
"Shortly after two o clock we received a call to Douglas Shopping Centre- commonly known as Tesco Shopping Centre- where we previously had a car on fire. Three units of Cork City Fire Bridge responded and dealt swiftly with the incident, containing the fire to the engine compartment and getting all the other cars evacuated out of the car park safely."
