The Finance Minister has said there are no more tax interventions he can make to reduce the cost of fuel.
The Government today announced a VAT cut for gas and electricity along with the scrapping of the PSO levy and a triple payment of the fuel allowance.
While the measures will be worth almost 300 euro to some households, it won't fully offset the rising cost of fuel.
However, Minister Paschal Donohoe says this is the last serious intervention he can make:
"So from a taxation point of view, I have now put in place, all the measures that I can do that I am able to do, while also in a number of cases being consistent with the tax law of the European Union."
