More than one million households are to get a break after Electric Ireland announced it was cutting its electricity and gas prices.

From November 1st, its unit price and standing charges for electricity will drop by 10 per cent, and gas by 12 per cent.

Speaking to RedFM News Minister Michael McGrath says they have yet to decide what those measures will be

"Between targeted supports and Universal Supports, and we'll  take account of the most up to date information at that point in time where inflation is at, where energy prices are at, and we will  decide what supports are justified and appropriate"
