A city centre charity says they expect huge demand for their back to school packs this year amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.
Feed Cork on Lower Oliver Plunkett Street will be giving out the packs on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
The packs which are suitable for primary and secondary school students contain items like copy books, folders, pencils and pens and people are asked to bring along their child's medical card or PPS number as proof of ID.
Speaking to RedFM News, Emma Byrd from Feed Cork says they are anticipating strong demand for the packs:
"We've done it in previous years and the core of the phone calls and texts we're getting are from families who have benefited from this service in previous years. They're looking for the support again, we actually have 3,500 packs to give out this year so I have no doubt there'll be queues."
