A father and three of his sons arrested after their home was raided by armed Gardaí will appear at Cork Circuit Criminal Court again on Friday.

56 year old James Keenan, and his sons Peter, John and Michael James were found in possession of a home made slam-bang shot gun, another improvised weapon, twenty rounds of ammunition and over 20 petrol bombs when Gardaí entered the family home at Island View Rochestown Cork on the 29th of April 2021.

The incident unfolded when the Armed Support Unit and other Gardaí raided the Keenan home in Rochestown.

The court previously heard that officers in full tactical gear identified themselves as Gardaí when they breached the door of the home and entered it.

One of the armed officers said she saw James Keenan discharge a firearm at her from the sofa of the front sitting room.

The shot hit the door of the room and banged it closed, leaving the Garda with soft tissue injuries on her elbow but otherwise unhurt.

The court heard that James Keenan repeatedly shouted 'I'm sorry' as he was being arrested. 28 year old Peter Keenan and 26 year old John Keenan were handcuffed and removed from the house, while 20 year old Michael James Keenan ran outside and climbed a wall into another house before being arrested.
The four men have pleaded guilty to a range of firearms offences.

Today in court barristers for the defendants said that the Keenan's were very anxious about their feud with the McDonagh family at the time and were in terror that they were coming under attack by the family.

The court was also told that the feud between the two families is now over.

Judge Helen Boyle is due to sentence the men on Friday.
