Family members of Beaumont Residential Care residents say they will keep fighting until an agreement is reached for residents of the nursing home.

Members protested outside the Dáil for the second time yesterday evening as the home is withdrawing from the fair deal scheme because the National Treatment Purchase Fund is refusing to cover cost of living increases.

Beaumont Residential Care were informed by management in May that Fair Deal nursing home residents receive €738 less per week than HSE nursing home residents.

53 of the residents who are on the fair deal scheme will have to move and many of them have Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia.

Speaking to RedFM News, Mark Kelleher says he has no idea where his mother will be re-homed if the Government don't provide funding for the residents.

"What's very frightening is about some residents in some nursing homes, and there's video of them having to leave because the nursing homes aren't getting the money from the government to help look after them.

"It's unreal, looking at their faces, looking at the tears coming down their eyes.

"It's so heartbreaking."
