An examination is taking place on the N25, which remains closed this morning, after a cyclist in his 60s died in a crash with a van in Carrigtwohill yesterday evening.
The driver of the van, also in his 60s, received treatment at the scene.
The cyclist in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Cork Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.
The incident happened on the N25 at Carrigtwohill at approximately 5pm yesterday evening.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 4.30pm and 5pm yesterday evening are asked to make the footage available to Gardaí.
Investigations are ongoing.
