Efforts to sell the MV Matthew drug trafficking ship are continuing after eight men were jailed for a total of 129 years on Friday.
The ship tied up in Passage West has cost the state over nine million Euro to crew and maintain, with the engines running for almost two years now.
Speaking to RedFM News, Revenue Commissioner Ruth Kennedy says a preferred bidder has been identified:
"There's an extremely large amount of regulation we have to adhere to. We are working with the Marine surveying office in terms of adhering to that legislation and working through our embassies in Colombia, with the flag station Panama, to ensure we get all the regulatory compliance before we can dispose of the vessel."
