Over €170,000 has been raised in a matter of days for a Cork teenager who lost both her legs in a farm accident.

13 year-old Féile O'Sullivan was critically injured in the Beara area of West Cork over a month ago and had to undergo a double leg amputation.

She is being treated by specialists in Dublin and is facing several more surgeries so it could be at least 12 months before she is able to return home to West Cork.

Local County Councillor Finbarr Harrington told RedFM News the community has rallied around her as her family will need to make huge changes to help Féile with her day to day living:

"She's currently in Crumlin so she landed there shortly before her 13th birthday. She will be there for a long time and she will have many moneths of rehabillitation. When she returns home we want life to be as easy as possible where her house will be fully adapted and hopefully we can purchase a car for her as well."
