The Cork Street Performers Association says it hopes that new bylaws will address concerns around busking in the city.

Draft bylaws which will impose a 10pm curfew, volume limit and 2 hour performance slots on busking are expected to be approved by the City Council next week.

Cork Street Performers Association says it welcomes performers being able to busk from the age of 16, use backing tracks and take digital payments.

Speaking to RedFM News, Secretary Paul Doherty says some of its members will be disappointed that they cannot play past 10pm:

"It would have been better, from our perspective if there had been some limited relaxing of that regulation just in areas where noises is a natural part of the night time activity of the city"
