Delays to establishing a task force in Cork city has been raised in the Dáil.
Carrigaline based TD Seamus McGrath asked the Taoiseach for an update on when a taskforce, similar to one in place in Dublin, will be implemented here.
Speaking in the Dáil, Taoiseach Micheal Martin says there has been issues in deciding a name for the city's taskforce:
"On the city I've had meetings with the City Council people don't like the word Task Force in Cork, we're kind of fussy, and so they're looking for a different title, because the city has made progress, they had issues with that, but anyway, whatever, we're going to set up a group in terms of the roadmap for progress and a fresh approach to Cork city itself"
In a statement, Cork City Council said it is working closely with various stakeholders on the future of Ireland’s second city.
A spokesperson said: “Since the establishment in February of the city council’s new dedicated City Centre Directorate, the council has been updating the Taoiseach on its work to realise Cork city’s potential. The Council looks forward to engaging with his and other government departments, and with the various stakeholders and partners, to deliver on its vision for the city.”
