Cyber security expert says academic institutions and other sectors have been thrown into a radical new experiment with the rise of AI

Ronan Murphy from SmartTech247 says content generated by programmes such as ChatGPT are almost indistinguishable from human generated content and says the world will need to embrace critical thinking to recognise and evaluate it.

The Irish Times issued an apology and removed an article from it’s website last week after it was revealed the content, including a photo of the supposed author, were created by AI.

Staff at University College Cork have also been briefed on the capabilities of ChatGPT and how they can create assessments to ensure the technology is not used excessively.
