The trial of Richard Satchwell has heard from the senior investigating officer who formed an opinion Tina Satchwell had met her death by ‘unlawful means’.

Superintendent Annmarie Twomey also described the day Richard Satchwell was served with a warrant for an invasive search of his house and arrested.

Superintendent Annmarie Twomey told the court she spent months familiarising herself with the case after being appointed senior investigating officer in August 2021.

Sup Twomey said there had been up to 65 reported sightings of Tina Satchwell in Ireland and abroad and had opened new lines of inquiry, before forming the opinion Tina was ‘no longer a living person’.

The superintendent said a number of Gardaí went to Grattan Street at around 5pm on the 10th of October 2023 and she explained to Richard Satchwell that an intrusive search would be carried out.

58-year-old Richard Satchwell of Grattan Street, Youghal, Co Cork has pleaded NOT guilty to the murder of his wife Tina at the same address in March 2017.
