Cork's Turkish community overwhelmed by support since earthquake hit Turkey and Syria

An online book of condolences has been opened for the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

The Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Damian Boylan extended his sympathies on behalf of the people of Cork including the Turkish and Syrian communities.

Meanwhile one of the organisers of an aid collection in Cork says he is overwhelmed by the support of the people who have donated.

Evren Ertugrul who runs Nosta Restaurant in the city centre says they are collecting baby food, nappies, toiletries and most importantly tents, to be sent to disaster zones.

Evren says they are especially appealing for new winter clothes as second hand clothing cannot be shipped due to Covid.

Donations can be made at ICOT College Cork and at Nosta Restaurant on Marlborough Street.
