Cork’s Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre says new rules surrounding family reunification are devastating.
Those who have been granted asylum will now have to wait three years and be financially self-sufficient before they can apply to bring their family members here.
Speaking to RedFM News, Fiona Hurley from NASC says migrants and refugees who have family still living in the country they were forced to flee is heartbreaking:
"It's not an exaggeration to say this is devastating for refugees, it's really difficult to go about living your life when your spouse or children could be in danger and you're separated from them."
