Cork's largest town is continuing to play catch up in terms of infrastructure and amenity spaces

Carrigaline's lack of amenity spaces has been described as ‘criminal’ as the town's population is nearly 19,000 and continuing to grow apace

A number of years ago a site was identified for a new town park and pitches but it's now emerged that the land is in private ownership

Local Councillor Seamus McGrath told RedFM News that it is vital that progress is made on recreation space in the town

"We haven't seen the associated development in terms of facilities and services locally so we are playing catch up. It's fine to put it in as an objective in the County Development Plan and it's an ambitious objective to have but we have to try and deliver. That's what I am asking on the basis of the motion, let's see how we can deliver on this"
