The Cork to Limerick Motorway will significantly reduce the risk of road fatalities in North Cork towns.

The M20 route has been finalised and will soon open for public consultation.

Speaking to RedFM News, Project Coordinator of the M20 Jari Howard says the route will bypass Mallow, Buttevant and Charleville which is vital due safety issues in the towns:

"They have severe congestion, obviously Charleville in particular has severe safety issues with pedestrian fatalities unfortunately, businesses struggle to do business with the congestion. And just for the health and safety of people in the community, to have that many trucks going through in traffic, it's not good for their wellbeing. I think it's vital that we get those bypasses done as soon as we can."
