The jobs are part of a €250 million capital investment.
600 roles will come on stream in Penneys stores, while a hundred will be added to the retailer's global HQ in Dublin city.
It's part of a 10 year capital injection plan into store expansion and redevelopment across existing Penneys shops.
The announcement includes a €60 million investment in it's Patrick Street store in Cork city, €20 million in its Eyre Square shop in Galway, and €75 million in a new distribution centre in Newbridge in Kildare.
