Cork TD Ken O'Flynn asked for a €1,000 La-Z-Boy chair for his Leinster House office
The Independent Ireland TD also sought bookshelves, cabinets, and a side-table
The Oireachtas said they had no recliners in stock and they were not “commonly purchased”.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Deputy O'Flynn - who has been critical of the Government over wasteful spending in the past - defended his request
"I'm only asking for what everyone else has. I haven't asked for designer wallpaper, I haven't asked for floor to ceiling mirrors. I haven't asked for anything like that. I 'm just asking to have a proper office, I don't think I asked for anything extraordinary or marvellous. I think it has been blown out of proportion by certain members of the media"
