A Cork student says that Digital Accessibility for the visually impaired is extremely important.

He was reacting to a report by Inclusion and Accessibility Labs, a spin-out company of the National Council for the Blind of Ireland, which found that 72% of leading Irish companies do not have accessible websites.

Accessible websites have additional data embedded within them, which allow people with disabilities to receive all the information without being able to see it.

and The Digital Accessibility Index found that not one sector of the Irish economy achieved greater than a 50% accessibility rate.

Speaking to RedFM News. Patrick says there's no need for businesses to create a separate website for the visually impaired:

"So I've seen plenty of accessible mainstream websites that I would use on a day to day basis, that are perfectly accessible, and it's the exact same site, you know that the general public would use you know there's there's no Google for the blind.com it's the same website that that anyone would use. Now sometimes, on occasion where a website is really well designed, it will be designed so that it will pick up the text to speech software is being used and it will optimise certain features. But that's the minority of websites."
