Cork Simon community say the roll out of Covid vaccines helped to ease some of the uncertainty among their service users this year.

The HSE set up a pop-up clinic at the charity’s emergency shelter on Anderson’s Quay in the city, where there was a large demand for vaccines.

Simon were forced to reduce capacity at their emergency shelter and Night Light Service from 63 people to 45 when the pandemic broke out.

Speaking to RedFM News, Paul Sheehan from the Cork Simon Community says there were fewer fears among their service users this year due to getting vaccines:

"We maintained our reduced capacity as a result of the pandemic. Just as a way of keeping people as safe and protected as possible. You know, that bore fruit. Obviously, we had people who were symptomatic; obviously we were we had people who contracted COVID-19, but, you know, people recovered and that's a testament to the sheer hard work of our volunteers, our staff and the close cooperation we had with both the HSE and City Council."
