A school in the City say it's only a matter of time until a child is hit by a car if they don't get a school traffic warden.
The Cork Educate Toghether National School is situated on Grattan Street in the city which connects the northside to the southside of the city.
The school say that vehicles often straddle the pedestrian crossing, forcing students to weave through backed up traffic in the right hand lane...
It means they are often met by cars travelling at speed up the left hand lane.
Speaking to RedFM News, Cork Educate Together National School Principal Maura O'Riordan says traffic is backed up all the way down Grattan Street every morning:
"We're very luckily that we haven't had an accident. We've had a number of near misses. But thankfully no child or adult has been injured. But this is only a matter of time. And if we stand back and allowed this to continue, and if a child is hurt on that pedestrian crossing any morning, we will just not be able to manage that as a community."
