A Cork road literally melted away after temperatures reached a high of 25 degrees yesterday
Council workers spread grit and sand on the affected road at Lower Goggins Hill between Ballinhassig and Crossbarry but motorists are being urged to avoid the road until the weather cools
Speaking to RedFM News Chair of the Carrigaline Municipal District, Cllr Ben Dalton O’Sullivan says the road which is used by hundreds of factory workers in the area could be out of action for several days
"It is really frustrating for residents, and it's used a lot by people commuting from the factories in Brinny, Carrigaline and Ringaskiddy going back up and said to the back of Ballincollig and Ovens and that sort of direction. So look, it is a very well used road, so if at all possible, while the heatwave is on and while the sun is shining, please just avoid the road"
