A Cork preschool teacher says it’s nearly impossible to make a living in her current job.
Early Childhood Ireland is calling on the Government to address the 28% turnover in Cork with almost 350 workers leaving the early years sector last year.
Speaking to RedFM News, Laura Hickey from Care-a-lot Childcare in Innishannon says most of her wages go on her own daughters' childcare fees:
"Staying here and trying to survive ourselves at home, get mortgages, feed our families. My child also attends here so most of my wages go towards my childcare fees, realistically if I had another baby I'd more than likely have to leave the job, because I can't afford to have two children in creche. And it's a shame because we all do this for the love of the job."
