Cork motorists are hoping that gridlock at the Dunkettle Interchange will soon be a thing of the past.
Six new link roads are scheduled to open tomorrow - meaning that the end of traffic lights at the notorious bottleneck.
Motorists are reminded that the R623 western exit from Little Island has now been permanently closed.
Pending the opening of new link roads tomorrow, the alternative route will be via the main Little Island Interchange, Junction 2.
The first link road will be opened at around 6 o'clock tomorrow morning, and the sixth and final link road should be up and running for 10am.
Strict traffic management controls will be in place, including three speed-vans and members of An Garda Síochána to enforce speed limits.
Drivers are being warned to ignore SatNav directions and instead, follow road signs on the interchange.
The €215 million upgrade project, which will cater for 40,000 vehicles a day is on target to be completed by the end of this year.
