A Cork mother of three who has Lupus says hidden illnesses can be extremely challenging.

Arthritis Ireland is raising awareness for the chronic auto immune disease which causes the immune system to attack healthy tissues and organs.

Speaking to RedFM News, Louise Crowley who is a lecturer in University College Cork says the condition can sometimes take a toll on her personal life:

"One of the difficult things in terms of dealing with people everyday is that Lupus is a hidden illness, so to look at me at work you would have no idea how I'm feeling or how it might affect me. I have three children and at various times I might ring a neighbour or one of their friends mums to bring them to a match or take them for a few hours where I need to rest."
