Cork is getting two new TDs as part of changes to the Dáil constituencies

Nationally there will be 14 extra TDs and four new constituencies created.

Cork North and South Central have been redrawn and both revert back to five seat constituencies.

Senator Jerry Buttimer has already signalled his intention to stand in Cork South Central as 20,000 people come into the constituency from Ballincollig

Other changes will see Mallow transferring to Cork North Central with 5,600 people in Buttevant and Doneraile moving from Cork East to Cork North West

Art O'Leary from the Electoral Commission admits it was tricky to figure out Cork

"Cork was difficult for us because it was one of the counties where we did consider many, many options in relation to the configuration"
