Cork is being hit by high winds as the country is under a Status Yellow wind warning
The high winds have been causing some travel disruption on foot of the deluge of rain which fell across Cork yesterday with trees down on the Bandon to Kilbrittain road, Ballinacurra to Cloyne road and at Grange Pitch near Fermoy
The weather warning for wind in Donegal has been upgraded to Red from 4pm until 6pm - with Met Eireann warning the strong winds could result in fallen trees, damage to power lines and structural damage
Senior Engineer with Cork County Council Mark O'Sullivan says some local roads in West Cork which were badly damaged overnight will remain closed today
People are being advised not to take any unnecessary journeys today and to stay away from the coasts
