Cork has the potential to help Ireland replenish its pre-pandemic tourism levels.
Tourism Ireland has launched its 2026 marketing plan aiming to boost oversea tourist spending to €10.1b by 2031.
Speaking to RedFM News Seamus Heaney from Visit Cork says both the city and county’s tourism sector are prepared to welcome a high volume of international visitors:
"Pre-pandemic Ireland punched above its weight in terms of spend. And were up around 8.5 to 9 billion euro. that has obviously dropped since the pandemic. Cork Airport is punching above its weight which is great and is very much on track to meet those numbers. I do believe Cork is ready to pick up international business that's coming and we've never been so ripe for it."
