Cork GAA says it needs commercial revenue to drive games at its stadium.

The County Board has partnered with one of Ireland's leading supermarkets and renamed its venue “SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.”

The naming rights issue sparked controversy over the last two weeks when it was thought Pádraig O’Caoimh’s name might be dropped from the title.

Speaking to RedFM News, Cork GAA CEO Kevin O’Donovan says he hopes the new name is a “win win” for everyone

"I think that understanding is there that you need that commercial revenue to drive, the volunteerism and the games that we all represent. I think the overall discussion was if we retain the name, if we still face commercial realities, that's the win/win for all sides. And that's where we landed in the end"
