A Cork couple who had to brace a flood in order to tie the knot during Storm Amy say they were determined nothing would dampen their special day
Anthony McSweeney and Elisabeth Villa got married at the church in Gougane Barra on Thursday which was under two feet of water
The owner of the hotel on the island had to ferry the couple and their family through the flood in his 4x4 to the church
Their wedding photographer John Sexton says the weather meant he had to be creative in order to get the perfect shot on the day
"I knew I needed to get one photograph, at least outside. So I had to venture out into what was the island, but was now a lake about two feet deep. I was about to venture out with small plastic bags over my shoes, but then Fr Sean said, hang on a second. they're too small. and he gave me two refuse bags to put up my legs. So I waded out and then turned around and got photographs of the couple in the door of the church"
