Cork County Councillors are to lodge a formal objection against the granting of a mussel farm licence in Kinsale Harbour.
The council, along with the planning authority and Kinsale Port Authority, objected to the farm in 2018 when the application was first submitted.
Kinsale resident Donal Hayes says locals didn't think it would go ahead after all the objections seven years ago:
"At the time we all felt that will never happen but it went ahead and we all objected. And there was about 1,500 people signed objections to it. We had marine biologists, Bord Fáilte, An Taisce, South and West fisherman, huge number of people objected to it for millions of different reasons but primarily because it's a big amenity."
